Omaha

Weekly Alibi

DIRECTED BY: Dan Mirvish

REVIEWED: 09-18-96

Ultra low budget indie tells of a young man named Simon who returns to his home town--Omaha (the city)--after an unsuccessful attempt at spiritual enlightenment in Tibet. His troubles have just begun, though, as he finds himself pursued by Columbian diamond smugglers out to get some so-called "Tibetan prayer stones." Director Dan Mirvish throws in all kinds of wacky characters and set pieces in an attempt to be off-beat. Occasionally he succeeds.
