John Travolta stars as an ordinary Joe who gets hit by a mysterious light on his 37th birthday and suddenly finds himself with a genius intelligence. The locals are scared of him, the object of his affections still isn't impressed and all he wants to do is save the world. A highly calculated, but entirely successful "feel-good" movie that will leave almost everyone smiling, weeping and generally feeling good about this terminal condition known as humanity.
