The Trigger Effect

Weekly Alibi

DIRECTED BY: David Koepp

REVIEWED: 08-28-96

Screenwriter David Keopp (Jurassic Park) tries his hand at the directing thing. This modest but tensionwire tight thriller tells about a mysterious blackout that strikes California (and maybe the rest of America). In Keopp's universe (and probably our own) Los Angeles is a seething cauldron of barely repressed anger. When the lights go out, it's every man for himself. Keopp's snappy script concentrates on one straight-laced suburban couple (Kyle McLachlin and Elisabeth Shue) and the anarchy that erupts around their not-so-blissful home.
